       We have created this website on behalf our father and friend, Mark Smith. If you’re lucky, like us, you know a man like Mark.  He is a man who never lets anybody down.  No matter who you are or what you need, you can count on Mark. He lends or gives whatever he has, and always puts others before himself. He has selflessly given time, money, talent, and skill. Mark is a go-to guy, one who always listens and always cares. These things go above and beyond the love and support he always gives to his family.

Unfortunately, now Mark is the one who needs our help. He has never been the type to ask for it, and this is no exception. Because of this, his family and friends have joined together to speak up for him. We are asking for help in raising money to help Mark fight for his life. Five years ago, Mark, now 58, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. This isn’t the kind we most often hear about. You know the one where they say, “Oh, you’ll die of old age before this cancer ever kills you.” In fact, that is known as “pussycat prostate cancer.” Two thirds of men are diagnosed with this disease which, for most, is more annoying than dangerous. However, one third of men, like Mark, develop what is known as “tiger prostate cancer.” This one is a killer that evades treatment, is relentless and offers few options for long-term survival. For this type of prostate cancer, the United States medical field has little hope to offer Mark at this time. He has had the best and latest therapies in the U.S., but still his cancer persists.

Through careful research we have found there are breakthrough treatments in other countries. The most promising for him is a new protocol currently offered in South Korea and Germany. Mark doesn't have the time to wait until it is approved in the United States. Because the treatment is out of the country, insurance won’t cover it. However, we are striving to bring Mark's treatment closer to home, which is a 2nd gift this site has brought. We may have found a way to treat Mark in Scottsdale, AZ at a clinic specializing in new protocols and alternative cures! 

The money situation is Mark’s only hurdle to overcome so he can begin treatment. Financially, for Mark, the timing could not be worse. Mark is one of the thousands of people suffering from an economy gone crazy. A self-employed contractor, Mark has lost a great deal of work due to people postponing projects, and cutting back overall. Further, investments he made to ensure against down times are gone.  

This is why we have banded together to save Mark. We need to raise money for his treatment. We are hoping there is something your group can do to help us, whether it is sponsoring or supporting a fundraiser or donating money. Any funds received will go specifically to financing Mark’s treatment and treatment related expenses. We want to do everything we can to make sure Mark is given every opportunity available to fight this disease and live.
